Weigh In!! Ice Cream,Hot Dogs,Dips, and Herb tips .......

Its been a good week, nothing overly special, just Good.Been steady looking for a weight chart/graph that does not require me a year of web designing to use in my blog.My brain shuts off when I see all the codes and steps involved. So I have choose a weight tracker for now.Hopefully this weekend I will be working on my before & now Pics along with another Blog I am working on.Adult Confirmation & Faith, one of the most important things I will do in my life IMO.

Starting off with my weight in,I did drink more smoothies this week and ate more green whenever possible,I swear I ate like 15 avocado's this week.I lost 6 pounds,Soo excited this means I'm 16.2 Lbs from leaving the 300's in the dust and 12 pounds in, on my goal of 120lbs .Ive not been out the 3's since I was like 24 I'm 36 now,you do the math.A hell of a long time!!!  :)

At Tops we did a surprise party for a co-leaders Husband ,who was involved in a serious auto wreck. Two of the nicest ppl you could ever meet. After weigh in we met at their house, everyone brought lowfat goodies and we had a blessed night of company.I brought a dip& Veggie tray,I was nervous  bringing my raw onion dip,I know what taste good to me, Norman had assured me that it was very tasty.I still had doubts,so I took some to work before party and tested it out on my (sad)co-workers,they enjoyed it,told me it was a goo. WHEW!!! lol

I'm still learning and still in awe that nuts and veggies can take on such pleasurable tastes that I second guess myself that others will like them too .Everyone at the party liked it alot and were shocked at the ingredients..

Here is the onion dip tray I served
At same time I made a Sunflower Dill dip that was VERY good as well, but it did not yield enough for a group when it was all said an done...

Got both dips from RAWFREEDOMCOMMUINTY
Onion DIP
1 c sunflower seeds (soaked)
1 c cashews (soaked)
1 whole sweet onion
1 green onion
1 tbs onion pwder
2 tbs nama shoyu
dash of poultry seasoning
Sea Salt n Pepper to taste
 throw in Fp until smooth
My notes> I didn't follow an exact recipe it was more  a suggestion of items you could use to make this dip,I approximated measurements.By all means do what you think would be better.I think next time I would do 1tbs of Shoyo, also I was a little heavy with poultry seasoning. You only need a TINY TINY bit of that. With that,I would make again for myself of a gathering,it is very good with veggies or raw crackers.

Sunflower Dip
2 c Sunflower seeds (soaked)
2 cloves garlic (or more if your like me )   : )
2 Tbs lemon juice
handful of fresh Dill
salt to taste
Throw in FP ,process until smooth..Yumm!!

My notes> Wow how easy can it get and the Dill makes it taste amazing.I liked this one more then the onion,I don't think Ive ever use fresh Dill and man did I like it!!!

/ICE CREAM/

So I was craving Ice cream this week ,I always have a good amount of banana's frozen for just this type of crave.I decided I wanted peach IC. I picked through my bag of frozen fruit, combined banana's& peaches together  and Whoa Yummy Yummy.

I don't have an  recipe its ,Just frozen peaches & Banana's,easy quick ,good for you and taste GREAT!!! After making this I want to try strawberry this coming week.Any combo of banana's and fruit would work, even if your not 100% raw, this is so low in calories,no preservatives, chemicals what more could ya ask for :)

A good friend of mine told me about a tip to preserve fresh herbs in the fridge longer. She was right,Ive tested the theory and this tip has saved me money,Thanks Teresa :)
After buying herbs ,rinse them good and shake em dry as best as possible.Cut to size, then Use a paper towel or if you want to not have much waste, a clean wash cloth should work.Fold it and stuff in a baggie of your choice, then lay herbs on top, close bag tight getting as much air out as possible.

I have left herbs in the bag I get from the grocery store and within days they start to go,I once placed them in a vase ,with water in fridge to see if that would work, same thing they started to die within days.Using this idea my herbs have lasted weeks!!!!
Pic of my herbs I bought recently.I try to use the same bag over an over,I always replace what is low.Hopefully this summer it will be out my herb garden....

Now to the Hot Dogs
I get that "I want to make something new" urge from time to time. This weekend I'm making Raw Lasagna for the first time. The pictures Ive seen from other ppl who have made it ,its mind blowing, going to start on it tonight.Whip it up tomorrow ,I will share in next post if I came close to what it suppose to taste an look like lol scared of making this one,but as always gonna give it my all

Well last night I decided to try Raw Hot Dogs
Just dumbfounded at how  in fact, the taste did remind me of a hot dog.Was so cool an fun to make. For sure, will make these again.I also made ketcup for the first time, did my own recipe, loved it as much if not more then the hot dogs..Norman did the taste test and was like "WOW that's good". He will tell me if something sucks with the quickness,it means you did pretty good if he likes lol
Hot Dogs for Supper

I got this recipe also from RAWFREEDOMCOMMUNITY

Raw whole food hot dogs (makes 6-8)
1-1/2 c walnuts
¼ onion
¼ beet
½ carrot
2 clove garlic
2 T agave (to taste)
2 T braggs
t hickory smoke flavor
1 t marjoram
½ t celery seed
½ t salt
 t smoked paprika
sprinkle cayenne pepper
blend till smooth in food processor
form dough into hot dog shapes on telflex (6-8)
dehydrate 105 about 4 hrs
flip onto grid dehydrate to the texture you like. (Another hr or so.) Roll lightly into shape.
Serve warm.
My Notes>I didn't have marjoram,I used an Organic pizza seasoning that contained it instead.
I used a small piece of plastic wrap to mold the hot dogs,If you spoon some in middle and roll edges it helps to make a little hot dog log, worked out good without a mess.

Also if your like me and don't have the Nimbus 2000 dehydrator :)
and are annoyed that you cant find sheets to fit the cheap WO-man's dehydrator,I have found that parchment paper makes a ideal substitute when Dhy'ing moist items that could slip through mess screen.Overall was super easy to make, hardest thing was wainting for it to warm up so I could eat it!!
Pics of Preparations

last but not least (KETCHUP)
Ketchup
This is my own concoction ,tad sweet & sour but that's the way I like it,very fresh tasting
3-4 Small vine tomatoes
Handful or about 8 Sundried tomatoes(soaked)
1 T onion powder
3 Cloves Garlic
2 T Apple Cider Vinegar
2 T Pizza seasonings
3 dates
2 T agava necter
salt to taste
Process in FP until desired Consistency...Yumm!!!

Hope Every one's week went by good and that this weekend will be a time of relaxing ,& Thanksgiving .

Green Smoothies

Knowledge is power as they say,IMO educating yourself about Raw and why/how its so beneficial is a strong example of that power.Nothing is bulletproof but there are things that you stumble upon in life that give you the greatest joy,you never knew you could have. For me renewing my faith in The father/Son/& holy Spirit was huge & RAW  was his solution for the many hours I prayed for mercy through my dark years. When I hear the word Grateful,it resonates in a whole new sense.I am blessed & grateful to be alive,I truly believe this no matter what wall stands in front of me now.

Before going Raw I began smoothies wile I was still eating garbage.I felt a difference ,over time I started to want to try more and more because of the benefits of just doing smoothies.I tell everyone ,overweight, sick,or just not feeling like themselves anymore, to start drinking Green Smoothies.

Victoria Butenko,is the original creator of green smoothies. She healed her whole family and wrote a book "Green Smoothie Revolution".
Here's a article about her life http://www.naturalnews.com/022401.html & her website http://www.rawfamily.com/ .Alo for anyone interested,Kevin Gianni was interviewing her in this news link.I love watching his show, him along with his wife they are  so real and KNOW what they are talking about.  http://renegadehealth.com/blog/  !!!

My Green Smoothie- Everyone does something a lil different or has a personal taste preference,so you have to find what works for you. Here is the base recipe,I drink these almost everyday.I can feel the difference when I start to slack on my GS consumption, and my body throws a party when I begin drinking them again :)

I didn't want to be anal and post a pic of every step, while at same time, wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

1 cup water- I use spring water-Most tap water is contaminated, they add chemicals and taste enhancers.  http://www.articlealley.com/article_685676_17.html

2 banana's- In my case I cut up bunches of them and freeze them the night before in a freezer safe container-So that's about 2 cups. You can have them froze or not.Freezing them makes em extra creamy

Next Step Blend water&Banana's-hard to see its so bright, but its creamy now
2 Handfuls of greens- Add as much greens as you deem fit. Most start out with 4 to 5 leafs.
I use 2 huge handfuls of whatever I'm using that day.Today I had on hand Spinach.
Kale is my fav.,but it is good to switch greens from week to week to keep the taste buds and healing active. All fruits and veggies have different healing properties, its good to keep an open mind, and be willing to try things, you'd be surprise what you begin to enjoy eating.I know I am.
Blend banana cream & greens- Okay this is where the cheapy blender starts to beg for mercy.I have a long butter knife ready to push greens down.I pulse chop ,then open top-push greens down-pulse chop and repeat. As showing in next pic,I set blender on an angle and blend using the ice chopping speed. This works, takes a lil time, but its worth it :)
This way the greens can sneak down the side and jump in the mixing pool, without exhausting the motor.I Slowly settle blender back into regular position all wile steady pulse blending. Pic shows what it should look like, doesn't have to be perfect,at this point its a little liquidy for my taste

Frozen Fruit as needed-     You can use fresh fruit instead and add ice for creaminess,I know frozen fruit some say is not altogether healthy because of the freezing process of some. For me when I have fresh fruit I use it,when I'm in a hurry or don't have any fresh on hand,I use this.Like Ive said before,I don't get caught up in all that,do the best you can, your body will tell you, if what your using is ta bu.Also at this point in the beginning add a few Medjool Dates or a Tbs of raw honey for extra sweetness.
I add about 2 handfuls here.I will add one handful at a time.I then pulse chop, lean ,and stuff fruit down in blender until it mixes.I like mine super cold and Ice creamy.
Here's are the kinds of fruits I stock up on.....Bought both at SAM'S
About 8 dollars a piece
A few people cant get past the green color,If so the triple berry Blend will make it purple
I chose tropical mix for this smoothie......
Here's a short video my GS's consistency wile blending & pic of it ready to drink/eat/sip!!
I know a couple people had asked me about making these,If anyone has any questions, leave a comment and I will do my best to answer or find the source to help........
Good Luck & Enjoy your greens :)

Soup n Stuff

Have been waking and drinking a liter of water along with half a lemon squeezed.I usually go about 3 weeks of doing this and then I stop for a week, its a mild way of detoxing.I know I need lots of house cleaning in my body. Not interested in getting it all done at one time.Think that's dangerous, specially when medical attention can't be trusted.(likely prescribe medication and little else).Plus I cant afford a guru to check all my levels, but hey  they say the turtle always wins the race..Yea that was cheesy    :)
After drinking water on empty stomach,I wait 30-45min later and have a huge smoothie Loaded with greens and fruit.Tomorrow I will do either a video or a step by step picture post to show for those new to smoothies. How to do it in a cheapy blender,Takes work-but can be done.
I know when I began I was thinking yeah the vitamix looks great but no matter how much you SHOULD have it. 400 bucks doesn't materialize out of thin air.You have to find other ways that suit your needs.I did buy a pricey Juicer, was happy that I was able to to make payments.
QVC is a <go to> when you know your committed and don't have a ton of money. They now carry the vitamix and maybe down the road. When they set up a payment plan I will have one. For now- my lil 40 dollar blender has been a powerhouse IMO.

I am now having whats left of  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcxTuLcky1M  .Man its good!!!
Only thing I did different was ,I covered bottom of bowl with avocado, then poured soup over and diced some green onions for garnish..Yummy!!!
First pic is today's lunch
Second pic is last nights dinner,I put the avocado's ontop,I think I prefer em under lol

Found some pics of dishes made during my raw Journey.Posting some simple snacks I like to make.
Love my dips/sauces with veggies or whatever is good at the moment.

1.)Creamy hemp dressing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mitqweZzUHg  with Asparagus marinated in 2 tbs of Nama Shoyu(raw soy sauce) and 2tbs of olive oil <---(First cold Pressed) for a few minutes. The dressing is as good as anything Ive bought in a store, its creamy and taste rich an evil.Is great for dipping or salads, possibly a base for zucc noodles?.....

2.)This is hummus and sliced red peppers.I made this one with beans.I don't eat beans much.I have tried the zucchini hummus ,its good just not crazy about it.Make the bean type once in awhile.Anything homemade with natural ingredients is wayyy better imo.Just have to eat smaller amounts. Here's a source on beans, why to soak them?how to soak them? or why they are not as easily digested and if your interested or have questions Im sure you will find it on this site. http://www.rawfoodsupport.com/read.php?4,24008

3.) This is Zucchini and Zucc Hummus.Very healthy ,Ive only made it once.I will make some again there are many recipes out there to try!!

After Church ,For dinner tonight I made Nori Rolls, for those who don't know its a type of sushi wrap.Prior to raw I had never ate one,and when I first tried ,wasn't sure if I would like it.Reading all the info that it is loaded with Vitamin K and tons of others good stuff for the body,it was a no brainer,I was eating it!!
So about the second time I made it,could feel a difference after eating it,felt good in a way that really cant be explained, you have to eat it for awhile to get it I guess. Now I crave it,I make a few 2 or 3 times a week.Love em!!

Here are some Pics of how I made them and what they look like .........
First off the Ingredients-and the wraps should be non toasted and all natural,if you cant find them.Use what is available,I'm not stressing on stuff like that,if you want longevity in this lifestyle I think it has to be simply a matter of doing your best.

The bowl that looks like rice is actually Cauliflower placed in the food processor and pulsed several times till rice like. There are a ton of cauliflower rice recipes( I will make one sometimes soon)Hmm like maybe this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IKIMWRT3Q4,its very filling and can take on the taste of things around it)
The Goodies.....

layin down of the goodies

Soooo not a sushi chef,I suck at rolling them.

Sweet Chili Sauce(use equal parts of agava and apple cider vinegar and a couple dashes of red peppers flakes. You will be amazed how close this taste to the real thing.Only a few ingredients I will go without if they are not   Organic, my ACV is one of them, you can taste and feel the difference from the crappy chemical wanna  be store brands, its awesome!!
I just got done munching on these.Yumm Yumm Yumm,is all I can sayy :)

Going to play a lil wow and hit the sac,Goodnite !!!!!

Tops weigh in.......

Today was a ho-hum day nothing to note for the most part. After work me and the Mr, played some on Pogo(dice city rollers) great game, was fun,I beat em bad :)

Figured for my blog I would start a graph of my weight loss,(looking for an app for that) ,  guess it should be mentioned, I did not begin this Journey for weight loss, though I needed to lose alot ,but  did not really think I would see such a drastic change as I have eating this way.
Since loosing several pounds, and continuing to eat Living Whole foods,it continues,  feeling pretty confident that I will loose the rest. Have had moments where I think this has got to end, still cant believe eating this simple was the answer the whole time.

I don't know where my weight will stop at, but I do know it isn't at this weight lol..
Figure 10lbs a month,120lbs for the year is more then reasonable.
I'm a pound off from my January Goal.

So tonight at  Tops I turtled (stayed at same weight as last weight in).
Was happy with that, didn't gain and it reminded me that I need to amp up my smoothie consumption. I get lost in the pictures and recipes of raw food sometimes and forget its about getting as much healthy ingredients in my body to heal the years of neglect. This week it will be on again, going to vow to drink a large jug of  juice and 2 smoothies a day,cut down on nut recipes and enjoy lots of creamy live dips and veggies.

I want to host a raw program for the ppl of my group,I'd love any idea's from ppl who have hosted or attended a raw potluck of sorts.I will be scanning the internet at the same time.

Banana Hook

Today was clean up day Woohoo!! I did some sorting, organizing and dishes.I hate dishes with a passion, prefer any chore but that.Unfortunately it had to be done :(
Anyhow Norman had some energy after work and and we put it to good use.

When I first decided to take this path at the very beginning of my raw adventure for the 30 day challenge,I had posted pictures on RawFoodTalk,of my stuffed fridge organized and ready for me to devour its contents,I was so proud of myself.we didn't have much money, but I made sure to get my veggies.(Pic of dead Fridge)

Two days later my fridge cooled its last veggie,So in a panic,we stuffed everything in coolers. We got lucky, someone was selling a garage fridge for 40bucks.
This one is small but It works, freezes alot of stuff,we have tweaked the settings but it can only do so much. Either way I feel blessed,We are still using it now.Today he built new shelf's for the freezer part .Hoping down the road we will invest in one, that this one will work for at least a year. Its amazing looking back when i began on raw, after my fridge passed away, the next month my car died along with Some other things that need no mentioning but all surrounded lack of money.
I didn't care i was not giving up on raw.I know now that God saw to it ,that I didn't go without, its just amazing looking back. I guess the one thing we can control in our life's is what we put into our bodies, from what I can tell, its a pretty powerful control.Anything can be achived !!!

Anyhow, feel like I'm talking to myself sometimes, guess this is a step up from Dear Diary :)
Norman made me a banana hook today, and the evil "M" tossed out a broken shelf,Ive made it into my raw hotspot.Pretty cool I like having everything in one area, its a work in progress but its getting there.I would like for him to build me a spice rack,I just haven't figured out what design I want yet, nothing fancy, just functional and out the way.
(here's my raw pillar)

Today i made Pizza,I decided to be creative and throw  2 Tbs of red pepper flakes in the crust.Man did that mess it up. Know better next time.Still gonna eat it,only its going to take a LONG time.Norman said to make sure I have a chaser lol
I took pics again,my 2nd ever Raw Pizza was even prettier then the first , left them in the Dhy all day,Hoping to turn the crust really crunchy and take away the taste? A girl can hope!
           ( here's my pretty bitterly hot crusted pizza's )

Savory Smoothies

I tried Natasha's soup last week from radiant raw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcxTuLcky1M
Great soup!!! Sometimes I try stuff and I'm like "ayy its okay" but this is going to be made many many times, plus to me its like a savory smoothie.Ive decided I can only eat a savory smoothies with a spoon and bowl, the straw method is just gross.
Victoria Boutenko has a recipe on her site for a savory GS,  http://greensmoothiesblog.com/savory-green-smoothie-recip/  its awesome. The only thing I do different is add garlic in the place of the hot pepper,I have made it so many times I have lost count, feel so healthy after and I'm getting a good amount of greens in.

Working hard this week to try and add more greens in,so I made some today ,I garnished the top with shredded carrot, red pepper, and a slice of cucumber....its a must try!!!
I got lost on RawFreedomCommunity recipe archive today, its like a goldmine for the raw foodie,I found them about 2 months ago, have been hooked since!!  I made Cheesy Cauliflower tonight.I don't make stuff like this much,as my stomach cant handle to much at one time.Raw will make your tummy shrink wile feeling like your over indulging. One of the many things that have made eating this way so easy and long term for me.

This was good, not my be all fav ,but something I would make again with a few variations. It did not call for spinach, but had some I needed to use and I liked the way it tasted together, and the longer it dehydrated the better it was imo.

Im into savory fare more so then sweets, although I have my moments :)

Its incrediable how seasonings and nuts can take on the taste of meat

Ive tried a few taco meat recipe and they were good, but this burger blows em all AWAY!

Kelp & Life

This will be the second time writing this  grrrr, have one of them tracball Pc mouse's and when i went to save the post it jumped to delete as I clicked  :(  booooo!! Thats fine though, this post will be even better....

Anyhow so my hunt for the infamous Kelp Noodles has turned into a dead end ....mail order it is or none at all. That's fine but to try the stuff ,the S&H cost more then the bag.My moms said she would go in half on a case(yay),it has a 6Mo to a year shelf life and every review Ive seen raves about it.I know my obsession started when I saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xex-rgsZXH8 .I am such an old school ramen noodle girl, and this stuff looks so close,I coulda licked the screen!!
 Wile searching for K.N.,

_______________________________________________________________
Yes it looks amazing and yes if its true I want some!!!
Here's where I have a problem,I am not sure what it is made of,it says a plant soluble, but how or where does this grow.I googled but have not found ,much info.Where as I know the kelp noodles are from kelp, dried and then reconstituted to shape into noodles.Yes not raw altogether but not loaded with chemicals or pesticides either.Think it would be great to have once in awhile when you get that craving. If the miracle Noodle can give hard facts on what its source is with perhaps pictures an process info,id be interested if its truly natural.

Since im kinda starting this blog in the middle of my Raw adventure,I need to share some of my raw meals Ive tried and Also some regular things that coincide with my weight loss efforts.when i first went raw weigh loss was a hope. The major factor was my health. I will write soon my story of how and why I found raw,no one can convince me otherwise that a Divine hand had something to do with me finding out about the raw world and I am thankful every day!!!

I have been attending Tops meetings for 3to4yrs now.I have lost some here and there, but little did I know then that the pills i was on were sabotaging any efforts .Now though 6 months raw and no pills,I have been doing very well.My tops group is like a second family ,we have our ups and downs but were still there for each other in the long run.Tops does have a diet of its own,but they dont push it,its simply offered for whom ever is interested and they support whatever diet journey you choose.I meet with them every Thursday and will be posting on those nites, even when I gain, and I have gained a few pounds a couple times, but the next week I always lose even bigger then before.I am not looking to loose all my weight fast, the rate I have been experiencing is fantastic.About 10lbs a month give or take.Thats what my goal of a 120 this year is for,and I know I will do it!!!

(So this will be my first Tops posting)
Thursday 13 ,2011
Had a wonderful nite,I was awarded biggest loser for 2010 and won biggest loser for december an November.Everyone was so great and I could feel the love.I cant wait to do a raw program,so other who want to try can free thierselfs from the toxins and feel better and love life more. When I lose 100lbs my fiance is sopose to do a 30 day raw challenge.he is thin ,could lose maybe 15lbs,but he smokes and eats the worst foods.he will drink the smoothies Ive made and has had a few meals with me,but he loves his fat, greese, and chunks of processed meat. The word Challenge is a def for him lol But I have faith he will feel so much better he will want to keep some of the eating habits!!

Okay now to some of the raw treats Ive been blessed to try!!

Raw Food Journey

Okay so I'm brand new to the blog thing,Ive read some, followed a few but never thought of doing one myself. So here it goes,I guess the point of me doing one now is to record my weight loss and health transformation and share recipes and thrifty tips
Six months ago I decided to go raw and have dropped 60lbs so far.I started at 383.6 I am now 23.2 lbs from breaking the 300's.I am in awe and excited,I haven't been under 300's in close to 15 years.I believe strongly that God shows you things when it is time, and I feel like this is my time,I don't know what he has in store for me.All I know is I cant deni how intense this transformation has been for me on so many levels.

I love everything I have learned and experienced RAW . Some things I think that need work are getting the message to people who don't have tons of money,or resources to go raw.Its crazy some of the prices books and raw classes are. When the whole point is to change society and peoples minds and make eating raw a reality and not a overwhelming expensive experience.I have had to be very creative, and do alot of research, shopping and guesswork to go raw.Let me tell you its the best thing I could of ever done for myself and I wish the same feeling for everyone!!
